Why I do this

As a young 20-something creative, I dreamed of working my way up the ladder. I thought that ladder began and ended with job titles. Starting as a second-shift designer at National Print Group, I eventually became a VP, pioneering a new creative studio that served top U.S. retail clients. We shared profits based on performance. The team was growing. The work was scaling. I was on track.

But somewhere along that climb, something shifted. The grind opened my eyes to a different ladder. One not built by promotions, but by purpose.

A ladder where every step is shaped by values, not just metrics.

These are the values that guide me:

• Inspiring people — alignment, courage, shared vision, and resilience.

• Investing in what lasts — enduring strategies, durable frameworks, and cultures of innovation.

• Maximizing the mission — bold ideas turned into real, lasting impact.

Those values became my compass when I left the commercial world and stepped into the nonprofit space, primarily through IMB. Over the next 20 years, I put them to work—not on a traditional career path, but in service to something bigger.

Whether coaching founders to rediscover their why, helping a globally-dispersed media team collaborate beyond silos, or guiding a Japan-based team’s first steps into virtual reality—my goal remained the same: build what’s needed most, not just what’s expected.

That meant pioneering IMB’s first solution sprint, hackathon, internal podcast, gamification workshop, and design thinking frameworks adapted for field teams. It meant crafting strategy that’s propelling IMB toward 2040 relevance with digital natives. 

And it still means this:
