Global teams often struggle with isolation. Even in large organizations, many individuals feel siloed, unseen, and disconnected from the broader mission.
The StoryLab project was built to bridge that gap—using the intimacy of audio storytelling to foster belonging, connection, and shared purpose. We designed it as a strategic internal podcast platform, backed by user research and cross-team collaboration.
Key elements included:
⦿ A bi-weekly internal podcast featuring personnel stories across roles and geographies
⦿ An internal site with story notes, comments, and direct contact links to featured storytellers
⦿ A mobile-friendly player for easy listening anywhere
⦿ A recording booth at internal events, encouraging peer-to-peer interviews
⦿ Cross-use of story content in both internal podcasts and public-facing comms
⦿ QR-code signage placed across facilities to promote access and discovery
Guiding principles:
⦿ Relatable, candid, and inspirational storytelling
⦿ Wide appeal across demographics and roles
⦿ Voluntary participation (never forced listening)
⦿ Real voices, real places, real people
In the first year, one-third of all personnel engaged with the podcast. Listener feedback reflected the heart of the project:
“Wow, what a powerful story. I feel like I actually know you now.”
It’s a simple idea: stories build culture and shift how people relate across our global footprint.
